Was roughly a week after I started playing and I had found out how to make some serious ISK for my age.
I began hitting the trade routes around Bourynes having moved down from Jouvalen(sp?) to meet a friend. I had quickly become a fan of eve and went premium within about 2 days. I trained for a badger which was given as a reward for a simple mission.
I traded in luxurious goods including Oxygen, Robotics and construction blocks, some days I would find routes that would make 100,000ISK just for flying from one station to another within the same system! Shortly I had amassed around 40million ISK from my trading and I was only a week into Eve. I felt powerful... I upgraded my ship to a Badger MK2 fitted Expanded cargoholds then filled out the ship with Cargocontainers which were full to the brim with Polytextiles. Unfortunately due to a market issue in which my Pentium 4 3Ghz lagged to poop on I ended up buying Polytextiles at a sky high price which would cause me 50% loss if I were to sell them in high sec.
I questioned how hard it was to go into low sec and though... this is pretty fast, I mean I'm a big ship a frigate can't kill me...
I warped to the 0.4 gate to meet a lone rookie pilot, I almost felt like talking to him and asking him whether he was curious to see what low sec was like, however he had nearly 2 years to his name which at the time confused me to why he was flying an Ibis.
I progressed through and spammed warped, I landed on my destination gate and as I came out of warp there were hundreds... a full scale factional warfare fight on the gate. I had pressed warp to 0m and I had landed at 0m but for some reason people were able to lock me and fire within the time I had landed. I Jumped through and quickly aligned to the next gate, unfortunately a megathron was waiting which almost instantly blew me to smithereens. I sat there quickly spamming warp realising my pod was in danger however for some reason my computer wasn't responding, my 8Mb Wanadoo Internet connection along with my Pentium 4 and 1Gb of 2700 ram just wouldn't allow it... I spammed and I spammed until the next thing I found out I was in the station back in Bourynes.
The insulting thing was it was a Megathron that had popped my pod and I was never able to understand how the game failed to respond so badly for such a long time. My lesson was learnt, however I kept making mistakes in trading until I decided to just shoot some NPCs and within a month of starting I owned a Raven Navy Issue, with all those fail fits I have no idea how that didn't failcascade.
